  • In the seven days between March 26 and April 1, both violent and property crime reports were about average.
  • Over the last three months, Sherman Oaks averaged 2.7 violent crimes and 30.1 property crimes per week.
  • This week’s rate of 5.3 crimes per 10,000 people is higher than in nearby Bel-Air, Beverly CrestBrentwoodValley GlenEncinoVan Nuys and Valley Village and lower than Studio City.
  • A 2008 population estimate of 65,436 from the L.A. Department of City Planning is used to calculate per-capita totals.
  • Crime reports are up significantly for the latest week in 10 L.A. neighborhoods, according to an analysis of LAPD data by the Los Angeles Times’ Crime L.A. database.
  • Seven neighborhoods reported a significant increase in violent crime. Harbor Gateway (A) was the most unusual, recording seven reports compared with a weekly average of 1.9 over the last three months.
  • Alerts are based on an analysis of crime reports for April 11 to April 17, the most recent seven days for which data are available.
  • Sherman Oaks (H) topped the list of three neighborhoods with property crime alerts. It recorded 45 property crimes compared with its weekly average of 33.5 over the last three months.
